An IDF officer was hospitalized Tuesday afternoon with a gunshot injury, after being hit by a stray bullet.

The soldier was admitted to Petah Tikva’s Beilinson Hospital in moderate condition, where he was immediately taken in for surgery.

The precise circumstances of the event are not yet clear, but it appears he was shot when a gun accidentally discharged.

The army has launched an investigation into the incident.
